Blackberry Lime Bourbon Splash
Looking for the perfect drink for your next party or BBQ? Or just a sunny afternoon of front porch sittin’? Then, check this out! I call it a Blackberry Lime Bourbon Splash.
And it is soooooo good! Blackberry Lime Bourbon Splash is the perfect summer sipper. A refreshing combination of Bourbon, blackberry, lime and mint with a splash of soda served over a mound of crushed ice.
This drink started out as a new twist on a Mint Julep and morphed into this little jewel. Pretty enough for your next gathering and lip smacking good!
Not a fan of Bourbon? Swap it out with some Rum and it becomes, sort of, a blackberry Mojito. Yum!
Tips for making this drink:
First thing you will need to do, is make the Blackberry Simple Syrup. I would suggest making it the day before so that it has time to get fully chilled.
I used frozen blackberries to make the syrup because the fresh ones are still a bit pricey. and the frozen ones look pretty as a garnish.
Use fresh squeezed lime juice. It has so much more flavor than bottled.
I used Blackberry Bourbon (Bird Dog Brand) which has a little sweetness to it. If you can’t find it, you can use regular Bourbon but may need to add a bit more blackberry syrup. But remember, a little goes a long way. You don’t want it too sweet.
Use crushed ice if possible or really small ice cubes.
For a complete Southern Experience serve alongside Derby Day: Spicy Shrimp and Andouille Sausage
And Moms Cornbread.
